Network analyzer

There are different types of network analyzer available in the market. Among them, the analyzer that is used for the electronic applications is the well-known one. This equipment is used to analyze electrical networks properties, especially the properties that are associated with the transmission and reflection of the electrical signals that is called as S-parameters (scattering parameters). The Network analyzers are commonly used at the high frequencies. There are special kinds of network analyzers available in the market that will also cover the lower frequency ranges. These analyzers are used for the constancy analysis of the open loops or even for measuring the ultra sonic and audio components. There are two main categories in Network Analyzers that is known as SNA (Scalar Network Analyzers) and VNA (Vector Network Analyzer). The scalar network analyzers are only used for measuring the amplitude properties, where as the Vector analyzers are used for measuring both amplitude as well as the phase properties. The VNA is also called as Automatic Network Analyzer or the gain-phase meter. The Scalar analyzers are functionally identical to the spectrum analyzer with a combination of the tracking generator. Since 2007[update], the Vector Network Analyzers are the most common form of network analyzers. There is also a new category network analyzer available in the market that is called as the LSNA (Large Signal Network Analyzers) or MTA (Microwave Transition Analyzer) that will measure both the amplitude and the phase of harmonics and fundamental. The Microwave Transition Analyzer was commercialized before LSNA, but this device was lacking some user-friendly calibration applications that are now available in the Large Signal Network Analyzer. Even now, Vector Network Analyzer is one amongst the commonly used network analyzer in the market. This device is commonly used for the electronic applications.
